What Is Sigma Chi?

Sigma Chi (ΣΧ) is one of the largest and oldest all-male, college, Greek-letter social fraternities and a secret society. Sigma Chi was founded on June 28, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Sigma Chi has stated that its purpose is to promote the concepts of Friendship, Justice, and Learning; its mission statement is to develop value-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community. Sigma Chi's vision statement is "to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values." Internationally there are over 260,000 Sigma Chi Brothers and 222 undergraduate chapters and 149 alumni chapters.

Sigma Chi has been at WestConn for 20 years. Our chapter(Iota Eta) was installed on April 30th 1988. For 20 years Sigma Chi has been a dominate force here at Western having initiated over 290 brothers in our 20 year history. Our current chapter consists of 26 active brothers.
